Eden Sky Ranch Journal 2025
Field Harvest Bison (Nov. 3rd-5th)
In this short film, John and I share a deeply personal experience — learning what it truly means to steward and harvest one of the most majestic animals on earth, the American bison. This story isn’t about taking life; it’s about honoring it.
It’s about understanding the sacred cycle that connects us all — the land, the animals, and the people they nourish. We were invited to a small family ranch in California, where Jeff and Michelle care for a herd of fewer than forty bison. Over three days, we witnessed their annual harvest — from roundup, to veterinary care, to the final act of processing — carried out with quiet respect and steady hands.
This video is an offering of gratitude: to the bison who gave their lives, to those who tend them with care, and to everyone who believes food can be a bridge between people and the land.
The Sacred Cycle is also the heart behind The Shared Table Project
— our effort to connect ranchers, donors, and local families through the giving and receiving of nourishing, ethically raised meat. Thank you for watching and walking this journey with us. Subscribe to follow our work in regenerative ranching, land stewardship, and community nourishment.
